How to Avoid Food Cravings

REASONS WE CRAVE

Food cravings happen for a variety of reasons, but mainly they fall under two categories: physical or mental. After working with a variety of clients of all different ages, sizes, and genders, I’ve noticed some patterns.

Firstly, most people tend to have food cravings in the afternoon or evening. Usually these are for something sweet, but on occasion there is a client who craves something savory. I’m like the masses, I crave sweets. Second common factor, the majority of people have cravings  when they feel emotional. It’s not just one emotion that triggers cravings, it’s a wide variety: sad, angry, bored, stressed, etc.

HOW TO FEND THEM OFF

Whether sweet or savory, everyone wants to know how to avoid food cravings. Below is a list of a few things you can do:

  • THINK BEFORE YOU EAT — Use the acronym WAIT (What Am I Thinking?); this will help you identify whether you’re actually hungry or eating because of emotional reasons like boredom, anxiety, stress, anger, etc.
  • DRINK WATER — Drink a cup of water (8 ounces) then wait. Often times we think we’re hungry when actually it’s our body telling us we’re dehydrated. After you drink water, wait about 15-30 minutes. You’d be surprised how often the craving goes away after that. If it doesn’t, have a small healthy snack like a small packet of nuts.
  • USE MOUTHWASH and/or BRUSH YOUR TEETH — Sounds silly, I know. However, this trick works wonders. You’d be surprised how much less likely you’ll crave something once your teeth a clean.
  • EAT BEFORE YOU GO — Too often people find themselves putting naughty nutritionally void foods in their grocery cart because something looks or smells good while they’re shopping. The trick is to eat something at home before you head to the store.
  • TAKE BURN PM — Prestige Lab’s Burn PM crushes cravings, cuts down your appetite and naturally increases your body’s fat-burning ability throughout the day. I personally use it and have noticed a drastic reduction in craving frequency. Use this link to get it at a discounted price –> https://refer.prestigelabs.com/?af=piqkxjzl
